Rachael on the Radio

A strange thing happened yesterday morning:  it’s the middle of half term and most usual avenues of entertaining the children have been exhausted, so we decided to pull out the big guns and go out for brunch and furniture shopping.  That wasn’t the strange thing – the children love a good sofa shop!  The strange thing was the phone call I received from BBC Radio Essex, inviting me on air to discuss photographing the elderly. Time for Tea

Last weekend I hosted a Contact the Elderly tea party.  Contact the Elderly is a charity that aims to tackle loneliness and isolation among our rapidly ageing population.  It was founded in 1965 and is the only national charity with this sole purpose.  It is supported by a volunteer network who organise monthly tea parties for small groups of older people across England, Scotland and Wales.  These tea parties provide a regular and vital friendship link every month to almost […]

When we arrived at the hotel […]

Sunday Fun Day

I had the pleasure of photographing the launch event of a brand new soft play company at the weekend, Essex Fun Hire. These guys laid on such a fantastic event for children of all ages. It was completely free, with bouncy castles galore, larger-than-life lawn games, padded sumo suits, a disco dome, a dance machine, and of course the obligatory ball pond.   From the moment the doors opened the whole place was filled with smiling children, shouts of […]
